We are located in coastal neighborhood of Muizenberg in Cape Town, South Africa, and offer delivery options throughout the country.
Our Kings and Queens are carefully selected from exceptional bloodlines, with a strong focus on pedigree, genetics, and temperament. OUR GOAL is to provide you with a healthy, well-socialized companion - a Maine Coon you can cherish for years to come, just as we do with our own. We are a home-based cattery where all of our cats live with us as beloved family members. Every litter is raised with hands-on care, attention and love to ensure kittens are not only healthy, but also well-socialized and ready to become part of your family. We prioritize health and integrity in our breeding program. All of our breeding cats are DNA-tested and receive regular heart echocardiograms. Our cattery is FeLV and FIV negative, and we are registered with the Southern Africa Cat Council (SACC) since 2015, following their code of ethics. |

At Dark Moon Cattery, our journey began with a deep love for the majestic Maine Coon - and from the very start, our cats have stood out in the show ring. Over the years, we've been honored with recognition that reflects the heart and dedication behind our breeding program.
Among our proudest milestones, we've twice been awarded SACC Cat of the Year – Best Maine Coon Kitten: first in 2019 with Dark Moon Winter Sky, and again in 2023 with Dark Moon Watson, who also earned the title of Cape Top Cat Kitten of the Year Runner-Up later that year. In 2024, our commitment to excellence was further celebrated as Dark Moon Cattery placed 6th in the SACC Breeder of the Year awards. At the same event, our regal stud, Akella Leader Yasmin, was named 5th place SACC Stud of the Year. Each of these honors is a testament to the passion, care, and high standards we uphold in every aspect of our work. At Dark Moon, we don’t just breed Maine Coons - we celebrate their beauty, gentle nature, and distinctive charm with pride and purpose. |
